THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA AND THE PRESIDENT OF EGYPT SPEAKING TOGETHER ON THE REGIONAL SITUATION

Cairo, January 21, 2024- The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr.  Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is on an official visit to Egypt, held a fruitful meeting with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt at a highly organized event held at the country's Presidency. The two Presidents discussed security and the Arab strategy in the Red Sea, the situation in the region, the fight against terrorism, and the strengthening of inter-generational cooperation between the two brotherly peoples.

After the special meeting between the two Presidents, they jointly a press conference where they held the fruits of their discussions and their views on the situation in the region, with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud pointing out how the government of Somalia is cooperating with allies, friends and international friends to prevent any challenge against the independence and unity of our country.

President Hassan Sheikh who thanked the Egyptian government for their fraternal stance against the desire of the Addis-Ababa government with the Somali sea, presented the economic and strategic importance of the Red Sea and said that Somalia has a great share in this sea, which they do not accept the government and the people of Somalia that another country violates their rights.
